Rachelle Yuzik
Rachelle Yuzik has been working with The Fitness Fix team since 2008 both as a trainer, mentor and more recently, nutritional consultant. Since completing a BA Honours degree in Sociology from the University of Calgary (2006), Rachelle found that her drive, commitment and passion for her own physical training, and the results that ensued, was an experience that she wanted to ‘make happen’ for others. It was this particular event that instigated her career in the fitness and wellness industry.
Fast forward to the present; Rachelle has worked with a multitude of clients ranging in age, abilities and aspirations. She uses her understanding of the human body and its biomechanics coupled with her education (CrossFit®, Level 1; Resistance Training Specialist), to provide a depth of knowledge and self-dependency, optimal results, motivation, and personal attention to all individuals she supports. In 2013, Rachelle evolved her training credentials to include Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) (MAT Jumpstart Personal Trainer, 2013) – a systematic approach for evaluating and correcting muscular imbalances that contribute to injury, impeded recovery and compromised performance. She uses this technique on her clientele to assess (not guess) where the training focus needs to originate. Her end goal: to optimize client performance in any activity, safely and effectively.
Over the years, Rachelle learned that physical fitness is but a small (although significant) component in achieving one’s goals. This realization, for her, was the impetus for seeking new knowledge in the field of Nutrition. Rachelle delved into the area of Holistic Nutrition with her first certification coming from the C.H.E.K Institute in 2007 as a Holistic Lifestyle Coach (HCL L1). Since then, she has taken her interest one step further and, in 2012, became certified in the area of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (a holistic discipline that employs functional lab assessments to identify malfunctions at a subclinical level at the root cause of most health complaints). Further, in 2014 she received a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition with First Class Honours from the Edison Institute of Nutrition. Her main interests in this field are female hormones, digestive imbalances, biochemical individuality and chronic ailments.
Rachelle is currently awaiting acceptance into the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants to become a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner. She presently works with clients wishing to get to the underlying cause(s) of their symptoms/ailments in question, to help restore organ system functions and overall well-being.
On any given day, you can find Rachelle in her gym basement playing her favorite “sport of fitness”, CrossFit®, at a non-competitive level. While not in the gym, Rachelle enjoys spending time motor-biking, boxing, writing and making plans for the future.
